Given that Ubisoft has no current plans to launch any new Assassin's Creed games in 2019, Watch Dogs is expected to take the franchise’s usual place in the publisher's release schedule this year. While we still know next to nothing about that highly anticipated sequel to 2016's Watch Dogs 2, Ubisoft has been hinting at the main location of the upcoming sandbox title for quite some time now.
According to Kotaku's Jason Schreier, Watch Dogs 3 will indeed be set in London. "Ubisoft has a long history of sticking teases for future games in its current ones, most infamously with Pioneer, a project that was shown off in a Watch Dogs 2 mission before it was canceled and then brought back to life in a different form," Schreier explained. "A new patch for Watch Dogs 2 also dropped a major clue for Watch Dogs 3, telling the world that it would be set in London (which it is)."
London was the main playground of 2015's AC: Syndicate, so it would be really nice to revisit the United Kingdom's capital city in a slightly modernized version. Considering that the first WD was set in Chicago and the second one in San Francisco, Schreier's claims should make fans of the series outside the US happy. Watch Dogs 3 might be announced at this year’s E3 during Ubisoft’s conference that will be held on Monday, June 10 at 1:00 p.m. PT (10:00AM ET, 7:00AM GMT, 6:00AM on June 11 AEST).
