Last week, a bunch of Ubisoft titles were delayed.
Watch Dogs: Legion previously held the release date of March 6th, 2020.
However, now the title will release in either late 2020 or 2021. Precise release dates were similarly not provided for the other delayed games — those being
Rainbow Six: Quarantine and
Gods and Monsters.
During a recent earnings call (via
IGN), Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot revealed that those aforementioned titles will now release for both the current generation of consoles as well as the next generation. As well, the CEO revealed that the same can be said for two other Ubisoft games that are yet to be announced.
Guillemot teased that the titles will take full advantage of what the PlayStation 5 and Xbox's Project Scarlett consoles are capable of. This is the first we've heard about Ubisoft's presence within the next generation of gaming.
“The five titles will be on this generation and next generation of consoles, and they will take full advantage of all the new features that are coming with the machines. Which are actually going to be extremely interesting for players, as you’ll be able to download new content a lot faster.”
As for what will seperate the current generation and next generation versions of the titles, Guillemot specifically made mention of the improved framerate that the upcoming consoles allow.
“Players will experience better framerate, so there are lots of very good elements that will come with those new machines."
Watch Dogs Legion will release for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Google Stadia, and PC in 2020-2021.
