Ubisoft typically closes out its E3 presentation with one big surprise. It seems this year's surprise has been spoiled thanks to a premature listing from Amazon UK. Ahead of E3, the retailer published a product page for
Watch Dogs Legion, the third installment in the publisher's open-world action-adventure series.
Rumors of
Watch Dogs 3 have been making the rounds for several weeks now. Most recently, we've heard that
the game will take place in London, UK, in the near future, and feature a female protagonist named Sarah, a
"young, half-Asian woman who works for a counter-terrorist organization that specializes in thwarting cyber attacks."
An unofficial product description (via
Comicbook) reads:
"Watch Dogs Legion is set in a near-future, dystopian version of London. It's a post-Brexit world in which society, politics and technology have changed and altered London's fortunes."
Meanwhile, Amazon UK's listing doesn't confirm a setting, but offers a bit of gameplay details:
"Play as anyone, Every individual you meet in the open world, has a full set of animations, voice over, character traits and visuals that are generated & guided by gameplay systems."
Obviously, Ubisoft has not confirmed the existence of the game or the legitimacy of the leaks, but Kotaku's Jason Schrier has substantiated them and claims to have heard the name "from several sources plugged into the company." Schrier
reports:
I’ve heard the same, and also that you’ll see different things at different points in the game depending which NPC you’re playing as. In fact, from what I’ve heard, this system is so ambitious that it’s been causing the developers a lot of headaches (and may have led to at least one delay).
Watch Dogs Legion has not officially been announced, but will likely be revealed during Ubisoft's E3 press conference next week on Monday, June 10 at 1:00 p.m. PT (4:00 p.m. ET).
