As revealed by Square Enix on the Just Cause 4 official website, the distance calculated for the map is around 1024 km^2 or roughly the same as Just Cause 2, meaning that the fourth entry in the explosive series will be slightly smaller than the one in Just Cause 3. While the sheer map size might disappoint those who believe in the "bigger, better, more badass" rule, Solís' features may surprise them.
Just Cause 4's map is 1024km squared, which means it's roughly 32 x 32 kilometers. Solís will allow you to discover four totally different biomasses, each of them featuring unique trees, water, hills, rivers, and massive cities. As you may expect, there's a desert-ish area on the left, the mountains in the middle, lush forests on the right and hillside on the bottom, creating a pretty diverse landscape.
