Marvel's Avengers launched for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Google Stadia, and PC over a year ago in August 2020 and later came to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. The game got off to a rocky start with largely negative to middling reviews. Technically speaking, the game wasn't all there. Many also took issue with it being live-service. That is to say that content is constantly funnelled in and out of the in-game item shop, akin to Fortnite and Destiny 2.
The game is certainly not a stranger to microtransactions. In order to purchase most of the in-game skins for playable characters, you'll have to fork over some real money. Well, someone over on Reddit has taken the time to calculate just how much real money you would have to put into Marvel's Avengers in order to acquire every single cosmetic item. It's a grand total of 331,750 credits, which is to say 3,317.50 USD/EUR. What's more, the game is constantly adding more so that number will only grow from here.
That's certainly a large number. Though, to be fair, most Marvel's Avengers players main only a specific character or two so purchasing every cosmetic for every character wouldn't really be of interest — that is unless you are a completionist; luckily there's no "collect every skin" achievement. Additionally, fans of the game and Crystal Dynamics will insist that cosmetic items are optional. Therefore, you can play through the entire game back to front without having to spend a dime.
The developer also continues to add more content totally for free such as the upcoming "With Great Power" Spider-Man event that arrives on November 30th. The grand total is simply an interesting tidbit of information to know.
