Last week, Activision
announced that all post-launch content that will be coming to
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will debut on all platforms at once. That is, as opposed to the system which has been in place for about a decade now wherein one platform would get access to DLC either a week or month before any other platforms.
However, Activision and Sony still have an exclusivity deal in place meaning that the PlayStation 4 will still receive preferential treatment over the Xbox One and PC. It was said that PlayStation 4 players would have something big all to themselves when
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare launches. We didn't know what that was until now (via
Eurogamer).
On October 7th,
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare's Special Ops mode will be unveiled. In previous
Call of Duty games, Spec Ops consisted of extra missions for players to partake in devoid of the campaign. Often times they allowed for two players to participate co-operatively.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 introduced a survival mode to Spec Ops which involved players holding their own for as long as possible against increasingly difficult waves of armed enemies. It has been revealed that this survival mode will be returning in
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and, at that, it will be exclusive to the PlayStation 4 until October 1st, 2020.
That means that Xbox One and PC players won't be able to partake in the survival mode for almost an entire year. That is a pretty extreme timed-exclusive.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will be available for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on October 25th, 2019.
