Carbine Studios, developer of WildStar, closes its doors. 50 employees will lose their jobs and the game will also close its services.

Although the team was informed yesterday, the news was expected after the failure of at least two projects that failed to attract the attention of NCSoft, owner of the study. WildStar players who have spent money on the game since July 1st will receive a refund, according to NCSoft.

Carbine was founded in 2005 by members of Blizzard Entertainment who had participated in World of Warcraft. Two years later NCSoft bought the studio and in 2011 WildStar was announced, an MMORPG that would debut in 2014. The year of launching a paid subscription, the game became free-to-play. In 2016 Carbine suffered layoffs.
