Onimusha: Warlords is an action-adventure game developed and published by Capcom that was originally released in 2001 for the PlayStation 2. Set in a fictional Sengoku period, the story follows Samanosuke Akechi and ninja Kaede, who have to save princess Yuki from the hands of lord Nobunaga Oda.
Back in August, Capcom announced that
Onimusha: Warlords was getting a remaster and would be releasing for the PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and Steam on the
15th of January in 2019.
Onimusha: Warlords is one of the many franchises that Capcom seems to be wanting to revive. Having successfully revived the Mega Man series with
Mega Man 11, Capcom still has a few cards up their sleeves with Resident Evil 2 and Devil May Cry 5 coming out in 2019.
The Japanese developer
had also filed some interesting trademarks for Onimusha back in April of this year. While these are most likely the patents that pertain to the
Onimusha: Warlords remaster, it's clear that they are willing to bring the series back and, what better than to test the waters with a new remaster? Let's just hope this is a sign that more
Onimusha titles could be on the way.
In the meantime, take a look at the latest gameplay trailer released for
