Marvel's Avengers will release in about six months. The highly anticipated action-adventure game will allow players to take control of a variety of iconic Marvel Comics superheroes.

The titular team consists of Captain America, Iron Man, Black Widow, Thor, and Bruce Banner (A.K.A. The Incredible Hulk). However, there will also be other heroes available such as Kamala Khan (A.K.A. Ms. Marvel) and Hank Pym (A.K.A. Ant-Man). Crystal Dynamics has stated that many more will be added after the game's launch — Hawkeye being a likely contender.

However, at the time of release, Marvel's Avengers will only feature six playable heroes. That's what Scot Amos, the head of Crystal Dynamics, recently told IGN Italy. It's likely that the six in question will be the aforementioned Avengers as well as Ms. Marvel — and Ant-Man will be added at a later date.

"The Hero Missions are reserved for the single-player and put the player in front of levels built for the use of a particular hero and enhance the characteristics. Going forward you will also unlock the Warzone missions, playable with any hero and at any time, both in single-player and cooperative mode (up to four players)."

"The only restriction is that you will necessarily need to select different heroes: no Hulk-only teams! To give more choices, after the launch other heroes will be published, in addition to the six that you will have initially available, available for free for the players," Amos explained.

Similarly, the Crystal Dynamics head recently revealed that Marvel's Avengers will feature more than one ending — find out more on that here.

Marvel’s Avengers begins at A-Day, where Captain America, Iron Man, the Hulk, Black Widow, and Thor are unveiling a hi-tech Avengers Headquarters in San Francisco — including the reveal of their own helicarrier powered by an experimental energy source. The celebration turns deadly when a catastrophic accident results in massive devastation. Blamed for the tragedy, the Avengers disband. Five years later, with all Super Heroes outlawed and the world in peril, the only hope is to reassemble Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.

Marvel's Avengers will be available for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Google Stadia, and PC on the May 15th, 2020.
