Darwin Project is a free-to-play battle-royale game that has been available on the Xbox One and PC in early access since 2018. As of today, Darwin Project is now available to download and play on the PlayStation 4 (via
@DarwinProject) — and it's no longer in early access on the Xbox One and PC.
The multiplayer experience is developed by Scavengers Studio and is your basic battle-royale experience — that being that a multitude of players are placed into an enormous but shrinking map and their one goal is to be the last alive. Matches consist of ten traditional players.
However, Scavengers Studio has twisted the formula up a bit as an eleventh player assumes the role of the Show Director and can influence other players and the environment. For example, this overseer can call in a storm, remove access to a portion of the map, reveal a player's position, and much more.
Darwin Project takes place in a dystopian post-apocalyptic landscape in the Northern Canadian Rockies. As preparation for an impending Ice Age, a new project, half science experiment half live-entertainment, is launched. It's called 'Darwin Project' and it challenges 10 participants to survive the cold and fight to the death in a treacherous arena.
