Phoenix Labs' fantasy action-RPG Dauntless is off to a smashing start. After releasing just one week ago on consoles and PC, the monster-slaying game has already surpassed the five million player mark.

Inspired by Capcom's Monster Hunter series, Dauntless is all about slaying wild, dangerous beasts. It seems players have taken a liking to it as well, as evidenced by the latest milestone.

Dauntless is a free-to-play game, which probably helped in attracting more than five million players. While the player count is something to celebrate, Phoenix Labs was seemingly unprepared for it. Dauntless has been suffering from server issues that have resulted in large queues and long wait times to get into expeditions. Phoenix Labs has been working around the clock, however, increasing overall capacity, improving server connections, and tracking and fixing reported bugs.

Take on boss-sized monsters, forge powerful weapons, and craft armour from the very creatures you slay — all in a massive, free-to-play online world.

Dauntless is a free-to-play online game available for Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
