Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is out now! It's a reboot of arguably the most popular
Call of Duty subseries. Not only does it feature the same title but it's also made by the same developers — Infinity Ward. It was revealed that Captain Price would be returning in a new and revamped way within the first-person shooter's very first trailer. This time around, he's played by a new actor.
Another major returning character has now been revealed. Spoilers ahead if you're wanting to go into the campaign without any knowledge of what Infinity Ward has decided to reintroduce.
The actor by the name of Stefan Kapicic, who is best known for playing the character of Colossus in
Deadpool and its sequel, recently discussed the motion-capture and voice-work he did at Infinity Ward in an interview with
Comicbook.com. Kapicic is playing the character of Nikolai. That's a name that fans of the original
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare series should recognise.
I'm really happy that after a year working with the Infinity Ward team on this iconic game, I can finally announce my involvement. I'm honored that I had a chance to play one of the original characters in this powerful reboot. I can't talk much about the story of the game because I don't want to spoil anything for players, but I can say that I hope they will enjoy the game as much as I enjoyed working on it.
Nikolai featured in all three of the previous
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare games — and was one of the few memorable characters who made it through them all unscathed. Kapicic's likeness has been used for the character this time around. Interestingly, the actor also plays a character by the name of J12 — who remains masked throughout all of their screentime.
As for which other characters (if any) will be introduced during
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare's campaign, we'll just have to wait and see.
