Hideo Kojima is perhaps the most renowned video game director of them all. Kojima is best known for creating the iconic Metal Gear Solid game series, the horror teaser P.T. and Death Stranding. The latter originally launched back in 2019 and, though largely acclaimed, proved to be divisive amongst players.
Last month, Kojima shared a photo from a soundstage which seemed to include none other than Death Stranding actor Norman Reedus himself. This convinced many that a sequel to the aforementioned game is in the works — especially seeing as Reedus had previously suggested as much.
Now Kojima has suggested that his studio, Kojima Productions, is actually working on two projects simultaneously. Speaking to Japanese publication Famitsu, Kojima described on of the projects as a “big” title and the other as “new” and “challenging.”
Not much to go on, to be sure, but this is the first we’ve heard of what is going on over at Kojima Productions — what Kojima showed up at The Game Awards to tease he will show off at next year’s. It stands to reason that the “big” project Kojima refers to is Death Stranding 2 seeing as he refers to the other one as something “new.”
Kojima Productions did announce that they will be expanding their reach beyond the gaming sphere to movies, television shows, and music just last month — more on that here. So, perhaps the “new” and “challenging” project is actually something in that realm.
