Mavericks: Proving Grounds featured in E3's PC Gaming Show. This new challenger in the battle royale subgenre sets itself apart from the competition with its sheer size, boasting 1,000 concurrent players facing each other in squads of five.
The game's early acces period will be launching during this coming summer - with a full release set for 2019. The battle royale game, by Automaton, seems to amalgamate MMO aspects, socialization, dynamic weather and time effects, all together in a map that is reportedly 16km x 16km in size.
The ambitious game is able to reach such a high player-count by taking advantage of some ground-breaking cloud-based server architecture. The game has been in the works for quite some time, with the original plan to house 400 concurrent players - which has evidently been substantially upped to 1000.
Mavericks: Proving Ground is set for a PC/Windows early access period in the summer of 2018, and a full release in 2019. The afformentioned beta can be signed up for on the game's official website right now!
