DC Comics writer Tom Taylor sits down with DC All Access' Jason Inman to learn more about what the Injustice 2 digital prequel comic book has in store for readers and fans of the fighting game series.
"
The Injustice 2 [digital comic] is immediately following the first Injustice game. So you have Superman locked up, his reign of terror is over. Batman's team has won but suffered very, very heavy causalities. Essentially, there are less 'Gods Among Us' than when we started. We're picking up right at that very moment and we have a few years before the Injustice 2 game begins and we're going to fill in that time, much like we did in the first [comic] series."
When asked about the importance of Supergirl in his comic series, Taylor slyly teased, "[
Supergirl] is incredibly important to the game. Our role in the comic is to give her that backstory that you won't see in the game- where she's come from, what she's gone through prior to the game, who she's been with, her trials and tribulations, how she knows the world. She will be a very big part of the comic."
As for who Tom thinks player should pay close attention to in the comic series, it's the Joker's right-hand 'woman', Harley Quinn. Of particular note, Tom references the in-game revelation that Harley has a kid with the Joker. Could this offspring come back to play an important role in the game? In the comics, the Joker actually does have an illegitimate daughter who goes by
Harlequin.
