Before Fortnite took over the FPS spotlight, Halo was the game that redefined the genre. It set the standard for competitive shooters and dominated the scene for years, even if its influence has faded in recent times. In many ways, Halo walked so Fortnite could build.
While Halo may no longer be the juggernaut it was in the early 2000s, its legacy remains undeniable. It's still one of the most iconic franchises in gaming. And now, in a crossover that FPS fans have only dreamed of, two titans are about to collide.
With less than a week until the next season of Fortnite kicks off, Epic Games has confirmed that Chapter 6 Season 4 will feature Halo-inspired content, likely in the form of cosmetics through its Battle Pass.
The official Fortnite X/Twitter account posted some key art for Chapter 6 Season 4 featuring multiple UNSC Spartans investigating some extraterrestrial clues.
"Yeah, we called the experts in for this one," Epic teased before confirming that Halo Spartans will be a part of the Battle Pass for Chapter 6 Season 4, which kicks off on August 7th.
The long-rumored Halo collaboration with Fortnite is finally confirmed, not just by Epic Games, but also by several trusted sources. Alongside official key art, prominent leaker Hypex shared what appears to be a snippet from the Chapter 4, Season 6 trailer. In the footage, we see what looks like two female Spartans exploring the island.
Another leaked image seems to confirm that the upcoming season will be titled "Shock 'N Awesome". The image, which seems to have been taken from the Fortnite News Feed, confirms the alien Bug invasion.
The description teases: "Investigate the start of the bug invasion in Battle Royale, and ready up for the fight against the insect adversaries on August 7!"
So far, only Halo has been confirmed as one of the participating franchise collaborations for the upcoming season. But I can think of plenty of "alien bug"-centric sci-fi properties that would make for excellent Battle Pass cosmetic inspirations, including Starship Troopers and the Alien franchise. The Alien Xenomorph was already available in the Fortnite cosmetic shop at one point, but I'd love to see a Colonial Marine added as well.
With the new season of Fortnite kicking off this week, we'll be sure to share with you any news and information we learn over the next couple of days.
