Ahead the launch of
Monster Hunter World: Iceborn, Capcom is hosting multiple beta sessions that'll give PlayStation 4 users the chance to explore the chilly Hoarfrost Reach for the first time.
The first beta will be exclusive for PlayStation Plus users. It will kick off at 3:00 a.m. PDT on Friday, June 21 and run through 3:00 a.m. PDT on Monday, June 24. A second beta will be run for all PlayStation 4 users the following week. It will start on Friday, June 28 and run through Monday, July 1. In both instances, players will be able to preload the Monster
Hunter World: Iceborn beta. The base game is also not required to participate in the beta.
As for the contents, the beta will give players a small taste of the adventure that awaits in this new location. Three quests, including the Great Jagras hunt from
Monster Hunter: World, which is perfect for newcomers; the new horned brute wyvern Banbaro which will present an intermediate challenge; and the returning series favorite Tigrex for the fiercest of hunters. The beta will also include access to all 14 weapon types, plus the new Slinger tool options such as the Clutch Claw grapple mechanic. For completing each quest for the first time, players will unlock three item packs featuring "helpful consumable items" that can be used when the
Iceborn expansion arrives.
The story of Iceborne starts after the conclusion of the events tied to the end of World with the Elder Crossing phenomena, as the Research Commission begins to notice very unusual Legiana behavior in the New World. This new mystery is the catalyst for a whole new story chapter that leads us to a brand new locale, and the discovery that the legendary Velkhana is way more than just a myth…
Monster Hunter World: Iceborne is set to launch on September 6 for PS4 and Xbox One. The expansion will release for PC in winter. While the base game isn't needed to access the beta, it is required for the full
Iceborn expansion.
