Mortal Kombat 1 has seen some powerful guest characters arrive as part of its Kombat Pack, but perhaps the strongest is yet to come as NetherRealm has just teased Homelander's arrival. We've known about Homelander's guest appearance in the game since last year, but this trailer is our first proper look at the villainous character.
While Mortal Kombat 1 is known for its gruesome combat, Homelander finds another way to make us squirm. The trailer begins with the character lapping milk from a baby bottle. And for anyone who has seen The Boys, you already know that milk almost certainly didn't come from a cow (or almond or oat). Without getting into too much spoiler territory for those who haven't seen the show, Homelander has a bit of an Oedipus complex and craves a very specific kind of milk. I'll stop there and let your mind do the wandering.
If you manage to make it past those first couple of seconds, you are treated to our first proper look at Homelander's gameplay, specifically two Fatalities. The first shows Homelander using his signature Heat Vision to burn a hole through Liu Kang's skull before making his head explode completely. The second Fatality is a big more creative a Homelander punches him into the sky at the exact timing a commercial airline flies by.
We also hear Homelander's in-game voice for the first time. Anthony Starr, who plays Homelander in the Amazon Prime series, has already confirmed he si not lending his voice to the character in Mortal Kombat 1, so many are wondering who exactly is voicing the character in the game. We only hear him say a couple of words in the trailer so there's not much to go on, but it's suggested that Chris Cox, who voiced Terminator in Mortal Kombat 11, could be the one providing the voice of Homelander.
Unfortunately, the trailer doesn't say when Homelander will come to Mortal Kombat 1.However, The Boys Season 4 is set to premiere on June 13, so it's possible that he could arrive in the game around then.
Homelander is the fifth of six characters to be released in Mortal Kombat 1 via the Kombat Pass, joining the likes of Omni-Man, Quan Chi, Peacemaker, and Ermac. There's still one more character to go, and that will be Takeda arriving later this year.
Mortal Kombat 1 is available now on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC. The Kombat Pass is also available as a standalone purchased, or included in the Premium Editions of the game. Homelander will, of course, be free to anyone who owns the Kombat Pass, but will also be available as a standalone purchase for everyone else shortly afterward.
