Since NetherRealm Studios' inception, eight whole years ago, they've exclusively made fighting games - though Ed Boon, one of the co-creators of Mortal Kombat, has hinted at a desire to do something else. Boon may finally be getting his wish as a new job listing, for the position of Senior Artist/Animator, features a pretty telling piece of info.
In amongst the regular details and requirements, the likes of "experience in developing martial arts fighting games," on sticks out as of of NetherRealm's norm: "experience in developing first person action games."
Of course, the former mentioned line refers to the likes of Mortal Kombat and Injustice, however first-person action games are totally alien to the studio. Considering this job listing, as well as what Boon has stated in the past, it's safe to say that NetherRealm are working on or at least planning to work on a first-person action game.
