Riot Games has officially confirmed that 2XKO its anticipated 2v2 tag-team fighting game set in the League of Legends universe will enter Closed Beta on September 9th, exclusively for Windows PC. After months of silence following earlier alpha tests, fans finally have a firm date to mark on the calendar to get their hands on the game.
In a major move, Riot revealed that once the Closed Beta starts, the servers will remain online indefinitely (aside from scheduled maintenance). This represents a pivotal moment in the development cycle, as Riot scales up backend infrastructure to support a broader player base.
"This is a huge step for us," the announcement reads. "We’ll be deploying our backend systems at a larger scale for the first time, so things might be bumpy at first, but we’ll improve as we go."
Although Closed Beta is PC-only for now, players won’t be locked in. Riot has confirmed cross-platform progression, meaning any progress made during the beta will carry over to console versions when they go live.
They also announced that Vi from League Of Legends and Arcane would be joining the roster. Check out our article covering the announcement here.
Players who participated in the Alpha Lab 1 or 2 on PC are automatically granted access to the Closed Beta. Console players from previous tests will also be included, gaining access via the Riot Client on PC.

Despite the announcements, some fans are not impressed with Riot or the progress on the game so far.
"Another closed beta? With only 8 chars? You guys actually beating Mojang on the Lazy dev department" Said a user on X.
"Imma be honest. I kinda don't care anymore lol." Stated another user, having gotten bored with the seeming lack of development or updates on the game.
If you're attending Evo 2025 (August 1st–3rd), Riot will be there with a full 2XKO booth, including a few different things for fans:
- A playable demo
- Livestreams and live showcases
- Exclusive prizes
- Special previews of upcoming content
Riot also confirmed that a "Know Before You Go" guide will be released soon, giving attendees all of the knowledge that they will need to navigate the booth experience and try out the new fighting game.
With the Closed Beta looming and Evo just around the corner, 2XKO is finally heating up after a long wait. If early signs are any indication, Riot’s fighter could be a serious contender in the FGC if they keep the momentum and strike while the iron is hot. Get ready for action on September 9th.
As always, stay tuned to Gamefragger.com for more 2XKO updates as they arrive!
