A New STREET FIGHTER World Champion Has Been Crowned
The Street Fighter World Championships took place this weekend, and a new winner has been crowned. Who was it and what amazing prize did they walk away with? Well, you can find that out after the jump...
IGN reports that Du "NuckleDu" Dang became Street Fighter World Champion this weekend. He managed to beat Ricki Ortiz in the all-American final of the 2016 Capcom Cup, and as well as the prestige which comes with being considered the best in the world at this fan-favourite title, he receives a whopping $250,000 in prize money. Don't feel too sorry for Ortiz though as he still got $60,000!
Japanese players Ryota "Kazunoko" Inoue finished in third, and Tatsuya "Haitani" Haitani fourth. The Capcom Cup was made up of 32 players and took place over two days at the PlayStation Experience in California. This year's event marked the first time that Street Fighter V was used in the tournament, and you can actually check out the finals in the video below. It makes for some pretty tense viewing!
