Today we have great news for fans of Capcom's critically acclaimed Street Fighter series, as the developer has announced that the latest entry in the franchise will be free to play for PlayStation 4 and Steam users; there is a caveat, however.

As revealed earlier today, Street Fighter V will be free to play starting the 1st of August throughout the 11th of August. According to the announcement, players will have access to the launch roster and all of the game's Season 3 characters.

Street Fighter V becoming available for free, although for a limited time, comes right after EVO 2019 takes place, and while Capcom hasn't officially revealed any of their plans for the event, it is very fitting to make the game available for everyone.

Could this mean that this is because Capcom will be making some interesting announcements during this year's event? We'll just have to keep our eyes peeled for now, but this gives fans even more reasons to get excited for EVO 2019.

Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition is a brand-new disc that includes all base content from the original Street Fighter V release, Arcade Mode and a code for Character Pass 1 and 2 content, which includes 12 playable characters and 12 premium costumes.

Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition is currently available for the PlayStation 4 and Steam.
