Tekken producer Katsuhiro Harada has a rather interesting YouTube talk show/podcast called Harada’s Bar Radio (it's thankfully subtitled) and recently, Tekken 7 game director Kouhei Ikeda appeared, and the two briefly touched on the long-awaited Tekken x Street Fighter crossover game.
In teasing that his chat was about to go nuts, Harada revealed that development on the crossover never got very far. "Yeah, development stopped but we got about 30% done." He went on to note that development on Akuma and Dhalsim went very well, which is rather interesting as Akuma is a guest character in Tekken 7. "We even had motions, which you can see reflected in Akuma [in Tekken 7]. Dhalsim turned out as well as we expected, pretty good. Female characters’ models were really good, too. I wish I could have shown you. I was pretty confident."
Sadly, Harada confirmed that all of the stellar concept art produced for the project will never be released.
Announced by Bandai Namco at SDCC 2010, Tekken x Street Fighter has been a title on the minds of fighting game enthusiasts for over a decade! The game was meant to be a companion to 2012's Street Fighter X Tekken- which featured the Tekken characters in the 2D style of Street Figher. Tekken x Street Fighter was intended to reimagine the Street Fighter charactes in the 3D world of Tekken.
