Eddy Gordo, also known as the "Indomitable Flash," is set to arrive in Tekken 8 next week. He is Tekken 8's first playable DLC character since the fighting game launched in January.

Gordo first made his fighting debut back in 1997's Tekken 3. This week, his journey of redemption will continue in Tekken 8.

"A skilled capoeira user, Eddy puts himself on a grueling training regimen and hones his moves to new levels of proficiency to exact his revenge against Kazuya Mishima," his description reads.

Ahead of his arrival, Bandai Namco has released the official reveal and gameplay trailer for Eddy Gordo.

Gordo's is set to join the game's roster on April 4, 2024 at 4:00 PM PDT. However, those who purchased the Tekken 8 Deluxe Edition or Ultimate Edition will get early access to Eddy Gordo starting April 1st at 4:00 PM PDT.

Eddy Gordo's arrival next week expands an already robust lineup of fighters that included 32 characters at launch, including many fan favorites, the return of Jun Kazama, and three all-new additions with Azucena, Victor Chevalier, and Reina.

Tekken 8 was released in January to universal acclaim and is already deemed one of Metacritic's "Must-Play" games of 2024 with Metascore score of 90 on the review aggregator website. While the game did receive some criticism, it was directed mostly towards specific modes. Overall though, Tekken 8 has been praised for its impressive visuals, innovative mechanics, various single-play modes, and robust online offering.

Part of what made all of this possible was Tekken 8's use of Unreal Engine 5 which brings "new weight and atmosphere to the game’s battles, with every character remodelled in stunning detail and new dynamic and destructible environments added to the game."

Bandai Namco writes of the newest installment in the long-running franchise:

TEKKEN 8 continues the tragic saga of the Mishima bloodline and its world-shaking father-and-son grudge matches. After defeating his father, Heihachi Mishima, Kazuya continues his conquest for global domination, using the forces of G Corporation to wage war on the world. Jin is forced to face his fate head-on as he is reunited with his long-lost mother and seeks to stop his father Kazuya's reign of terror.

Experience the next chapter in the longest-running videogame storyline with 32 redesigned, unique fighters and master the all-new ‘Heat’ system to crush your opponents. Enjoy high-fidelity graphics, developed for the new generation of hardware, to showcase every moment of impact and aggressive super moves.

Tekken 8 is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.
