On the 20th of March,
Final Fantasy XV main protagonist, Noctis Lucis Caelum, joined the
Tekken 7 roster as DLC. On a
previous video,
Final Fantasy XV and
Tekken 7 game directors, Hajime Tabata and Katsuhiro Harada respectively, talked about Noctis, who he was and why he would be a good fit to join the
Tekken 7 roster.
Now, Mr. Tabata and Mr. Harada sit down once again to talk about Noctis, how he ended up joining
Tekken 7, and how their idea has been talked about since the PlayStation 1 era.
"
When Final Fantasy XV was released we witnessed the scope of its audience in Western countries.", mentions
Tekken 7 director Katsuhiro Harada. "
So these ideas about Final Fantasy and Tekken in the PS1 just so happened to come up again."
Harada strongly felt that it would be really sensational to pull off this crossover now since nobody was expecting it, which would also allow the Tekken series to be "
bathed in spotlight", as well as being a breath of fresh air.
Mr. Harada goes into detail and explain why Noctis was a good fit, aesthetically, to join the
Tekken 7 roster.
"
When we looked at the Final Fantasy XV character images we saw that they were each individually drawn in a really attractive and appealing way. If we were to take Noctis, release him from the confines of his fantasy RPG world and render him on a smaller scale in a fighting game like this...that we were the only ones out there who could do it."
Harada also mentions how he met up with Mr. Tabata and discuss about the idea and was able to ask all sorts of questions. "
You could say that my initial interest was more in Mr. Tabata than in Final Fantasy XV itself."
Harada says that he was able to interview him about how Square Enix and the team had approached making Final Fantasy XV. "
So, Mr. Tabata letting me speak with him was what led to everything , I would say."
Noctis does, indeed, make a fine addition to the Tekken 7 roster and I'm sure fans have been excited to play as him since the DLC was released last month. It sure is interesting to see what they can do next if they keep crossing over both franchises in the future.
