Tekken 7 hit shelves over the summer for PC, and had players confused as they didn't see an option to play a tutorial. Well, producer Katsuhiro Harada has some information to share about that. “You hear a lot of people say this game is great because it has a tutorial but when we look at the data, not many people play these tutorial modes. This is the same when you buy something new, you take it home and you don’t read the manual." Harada isn't speaking out of turn here, as most players don't play the tutorials. Usually when you get a new game, you automatically jump into either the story mode or the multiplayer aspect of the game. The use of tutorials has gone down a lot these days.
Harada continued on the subject and how he's been able to view the numbers on players who use the tutorial and those who don't at all. "It’s a positive for your product if you can say you have a tutorial but when you take a closer look you notice that people aren’t really playing it. We can tell with most of our games which modes players are spending time in. We have that data in our company.” If this is a sign of changes to come in regards to other games and their use of tutorials, only time will tell. But it wouldn't be a bad thing to see tutorials go.
