Beginning in 1994, The King of Fighters franchise is one of developer SNK's most cherished properties. The franchise, in its over 20-year history, has had 16 main series titles and multiple side and spin-off games.
The 2D fighting series has seen titles for almost every console release, with its most recent title, King of Fighters XIV releasing for the PS4. Some characters have also made guest appearances in other successful franchises, most notably Terry Bogard in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and Geese Howard in Tekken 7.
While fans will always clamor for games of the main series and the characters that appear therein, there is still an audience out there for the smaller, lesser-known titles. Acting as the sequel to the original King of Fighters R-1 handheld game, King of Fighters R-2 released in 1999 on the NeoGeo Pocket.
Following the success of the original game, the sequel took a lot of the same characters in the series and pitted them against each other with modes such as Teamplay and VS. The title was also able to connect to King of Fighters '99 on Dreamcast.
In a recent reveal from SNK, the company decided it was time to bring the game out in the open again, with two new trailers announcing its debut on the Nintendo Switch! Make sure to check out the trailers below, and don't forget to share your thoughts in the comments!
