Samurai Shodown was released just a bit over a month ago to some very positive reviews — with a very solid 81/100 on review aggregator site Metacritic — bringing back that sword-fighting action that has made SNK's long-running
Samurai Shodown series a household.
While this new
Samurai Shodown means a reboot for the series, it doesn't mean that veteran character's won't be making a return, and the roster is already brimming with nostalgia; for all of the good reasons, mind you.
SNK had also revealed a few characters that would be released as post-launch content, such as returning fighter Rimururu. Now the developer has announced, during this year's EVO event, that players should expect 5 more fighters to join the game's roster.
Starting with Rimururu, who joins the game on the
7th of August, players will be receiving one new character each month. September will be giving players, completely free of charge, Shizumaru Hisame, and Basara, Kazuki Kazama, and Wan-Fu will be released in October, November, and December, respectively.
The good news don't end there, as SNK has also revealed that Mina Majikina, from
Samurai Shodown V, is the first character to be revealed for the game's Season 2 DLC — which is expected to release at some point in 2020.
