Destiny 2: Forsaken, the massive expansion releasing for Bungie's online shooter, will, of course, have PlayStation-exclusive content. This probably doesn't come as a surprise to anyone as Sony and Activision have had exclusive agreements for
Destiny since the first game released. In any case, Sony has revealed the exclusive content Guardians will be receiving if they play
Destiny 2: Forsaken on PlayStation.
Among the new items available for PlayStation owners will be a new armor set for each class, a new Exotic weapon, a new ship, and a new Strike set in the Tangled Shorts. It's unclear if all of these items will remain exclusive forever or if there is some sort of timed agreement before also becoming available on other platforms. In any case, take a look at the new armor sets for Warlock, Hunter, and Titan.
Warlock armor set: Thorium Holt
Hunter armor set: Red Moon Phantom
Titan armor set: Mimetic Savior
In addition to armor, PlayStation is getting the Wavesplitter Exotic weapon from the makers of Coldheart.
It’s the latest in City Age technology, using focused sonic waves to superheat electrons into a devastating energy beam (but good luck trying to use it as a musical instrument).
The weapon has three power levels that oscillate while the trigger is held down. This is communicated to the weapon’s wielder via various indicators: laser thickness, sound effects, and a meter on the weapon.
The kicker? Wavesplitter can be powered up to its maximum power level for a short period when an Orb of Light is collected, ensuring maximum devastation.
A new ship, the Great Beyond, will also be available.
Perhaps the most exciting exclusive is the Strike: Broodhold. Set in the depths of the Tangled Shore, Guardians will "fight through a crashed Hive Tombship teeming with Thralls, Acolytes, and Knights." It concludes with an epic battle against the Hive Brood Queen who alternates between a physical and shadow form, each with different abilities. Sony suggests Guardians protect themselves from her physical attacks with "smart use of cover and positioning," while her shadow form will require Guardians to move around in order to avoid being poisoned. Sony's PlayStation Underground crew shared some gameplay of an early build of the Broodhold Strike.
Guardians can explore the Awoken homeland when
Destiny 2: Forsaken launches September 4. As a reminder,
Forsaken requires the
Destiny 2 base game along with both Expansion I & II. Thankfully, September PlayStation Plus lineup already includes the base
Destiny 2 game, which means you'll only have to buy the expansions if you hope to play
Forsaken .
