Bungie announced that Destiny 2's Solstice of Heroes 2019 — an in-game event that celebrates "your past, present, and future" — will kick off on July 30. Available to all players, the event will feature special activities and rewards, including the Solstice of Heroes armor set.
The event is tied to the three elements: Solar, Arc, and Void. Each day will feature one of three, with elemental kills rewarding you with Elemental Orbs. Picking up these orbs allow you to complete objectives to upgrade your armor. Alternatively, you can collect 30 orbs that match the daily element and apply it to a elemental buff that lasts for a limited time:
SOLAR ELEMENTAL BUFF
Equip your Solar subclass and weapons to generate Solar orbs. Then, collect them to wield their Solar elemental power. While empowered, Guardians emit a burning wave of energy that damages anything around them.
VOID ELEMENTAL BUFF
Equip your Void subclass and weapons to generate Void orbs. Then, collect them to wield their Void elemental power. Crouch while empowered to become invisible and gain Truesight plus enhanced ability regeneration.
ARC ELEMENTAL BUFF
Equip your Arc subclass and weapons to generate Arc orbs. Then, collect them to wield their Arc elemental power. While empowered, Guardians move with enhanced speed and deal greater melee and Sword damage.
Additionally, there will be a new area introduced called the European Aerial Zone (EAZ) which feautres a new 3-player matchmade activiity in which the goal is to defeat as many minibosses as possible before time expires. When the time runs out, you will face one more final boss which, if defeated, sends you into the EAZ in search of treasure chests. The more minibosses you have defeated, the more treasure available for you.
These chests contain Solstice Packages that can be opened with Solstice Key Fragments that are earned by completing any activity during the Solstice of Heroes. They contain rare and legendary gear, enhancement cores, and materials. Access to the EV-37 Voidstreak Sparrow becomes available once you collect all of the Solstice Legendary armor sets on all three classes.
Speaking of armor, completing the armor upgrade process (by completing various objectives on each armor piece) will eventually grant you the "Majestic" Legendary set, and eventually the Masterwork version of the set. And with the
Shadowkeep expansion releasing in September, the Solstice of Heroes armor set will be the first armor 2.0 set you will receive, ensuring you aren't wasting your time for the next month.
Destiny 2's Solstice of Heroes 2019 event runs from July 30 through August 27.
