There was a small modicum of hope among the die-hard Destiny community that Bungie would give original Destiny 1 players some type of reward or bonus for sticking with the title through its growing pains. As the title shifts focus to Destiny 2, the hard-earned loot that took hours, days and sometimes even months to acquire will be left behind.
Today, Bungie confirmed that longtime Destiny players will indeed receive a reward but it appears to be completely cosmetic. It seems gamers will have had to complete certain tasks in Destiny 1 to receive certain emblems in Destiny 2. There are 7 in total and here's how to get each one.
-complete a single node in Year 1's Moments of Triumph
-complete ALL the nodes in Year 1's Moments of Triumph
-complete a single node in Year 2's Moment of Triumph
-complete ALL the nodes in Year 2's moment of Triumph
-reach rank 2 in Age of Triumph
-reach rank 7 in Age of Triumph
-have a Grimiore Score of 5,000
While the decorative reward may leave some longtime Destiny players disheartened, take note that Bungie has teased that this is NOT the only reward that veteran players of the first Destiny will be receiving. Destiny communitty manager David “Deej” Dague teased:
"Some of the ways in which we’ll tip our hat to your legacy in Destiny 2, and some of the ways you’ll be able to show all the young pups that you’d become legend long before they were ever reborn in the Cosmodrome, are best left for you to experience for yourself. Others are little touches that will fall snuggly into the realm of ‘you just had to be there.’ We’re not going to spoil them for you right here and right now."
Gamers have until August 1 to complete any of the above listed tasks that remain incomplete.
Destiny 2 hits the PS4 and Xbox One on September 6, 2017 and drops for the PC on October 24.
