Destiny 2 players have a busy few weeks ahead as the annual Guardian Games event has launched and runs through April 14. The class-based competition pits Titans, Hunters, and Warlocks against one another in a race for supremacy, complete with medallion collection, activity clears, and plenty of bragging rights. This year’s edition introduces several quality-of-life improvements and arrives alongside a surprise crossover with Magic: The Gathering, bringing Planeswalker-inspired armor and a suite of themed cosmetics to the Eververse store.
The core loop remains familiar but feels refreshed. Guardians pick up event cards from Eva Levante, complete objectives across the game, and bank medallions at the Tower to contribute to their class’s total. This year Bungie has added a remixed Rushdown mode featuring randomized boss encounters and daily boss rotations, which should keep the playlist feeling dynamic rather than repetitive. A dedicated event reward track offers a new shader, ship, emblem, Ghost Shell, and holofoil weapon ornaments as players progress. Three exclusive weapons are also up for grabs through medallion deposits and activity completions.
New Guardian Games Weapons
- Triple Laureate – A Stasis spreadshot hand cannon that brings shotgun-style perks to the 120 RPM hand cannon archetype, making it a fresh option for both PvE and PvP.
- The Beacon – A Solar rapid-fire fusion rifle designed for faster charge times and aggressive play.
- Keraunios – An Arc adaptive-frame trace rifle returning from last year with updated perk pools.
These weapons drop with random rolls during the event, and guaranteed holofoil versions add extra flair for collectors. The addition of a true spreadshot hand cannon in particular has players excited about potential new builds.
New Rare Vanguard Orders provide another way to earn Bright Dust during the event. Completing them grants 50 Bright Dust each before hitting the weekly cap, then 10 afterward, giving dedicated players more flexibility to purchase event-themed Legendary armor ornaments without burning through Silver.
Launching simultaneously with Guardian Games is Destiny 2’s collaboration with Magic: The Gathering. The partnership brings three full armor ornament sets inspired by iconic Planeswalkers, each tailored to a Guardian class and its associated mana color.
- Titan – Flamecaller Set inspired by Chandra Nalaar (red mana), complete with fiery details and signature goggles.
- Hunter – Mindsculptor Set inspired by Jace Beleren (blue mana), emphasizing illusion and precision.
- Warlock – Death’s Majesty Set inspired by Liliana Vess (black mana), evoking necromantic elegance and power.
Additional cosmetics round out the collection and are available for direct purchase or Bright Dust:
- Promised End Exotic Ghost Shell
- Grand Praetor Exotic Ship
- Voice of Hunter 7/6 Exotic Sparrow
- Overrun Finisher
- Ignite Your Spark Exotic Emote
- Sol Ring Exotic Emote
- Basic Lands Shader Pack
The visuals blend Destiny’s sci-fi aesthetic with Magic’s fantasy flair in a way that feels cohesive rather than forced, and the Eververse offerings give players plenty of ways to represent their favorite Planeswalker while competing in Guardian Games.
Last month Bungie announced that the major update previously known as Shadow and Order would be delayed. The team is making significant revisions and expanding the scope to include more substantial quality-of-life improvements. The update is now scheduled to launch on June 9th, 2026, and will receive a new name. Details on features such as weapon tier upgrading, expanded tiered gear for raids and dungeons, Pantheon 2.0, and Tier 5 stats on Exotic armor will be shared closer to release. In the meantime, the studio has committed to routine bug fixes, stability improvements, continued Portal modifiers, and a more frequent Iron Banner schedule in April.
Guardian Games has historically served as a fun, low-stakes breather between larger content drops, and this year’s version continues that tradition while delivering tangible rewards. The introduction of a proper event home, randomized bosses in Rushdown, and the Magic crossover gives players fresh reasons to log in daily through mid-April. Whether you’re grinding for class victory, chasing god rolls on the new weapons, or simply want to rock Chandra-inspired flames on your Titan, there’s something here for most of the player base.
With the event running for three full weeks, Bungie has given Guardians plenty of time to participate without feeling rushed. The combination of competitive class pride, new loot to chase, and the eye-catching Magic collaboration should help keep engagement high while the team prepares the next major chapter for June.
