In addition to Rise of Iron's new locations, the Plague Lands and Felwinter's Peak (social/safe zone), old Destiny locations are being remixed by the events of the DLC. In the video below, you're looking at footage from The Taken King, while the screen on the left contain's footage from Bungie's Live Stream, which shows off a revamped area of the Cosmodrome in House of Iron. As previously revealed by Bungie, the Fallen's House of Devils have broken into a sectioned off area of Old Russia aka the Cosmodrome and the Vanguard leaders are dispatching able-bodied Guardians to stop them. Why? Apparently that section of the Cosmodrome contains self-replicating nanotechnology from the Golden Age. However, to everyone's surprise, that technology turned on humanity [gasp]!
The exact specifics on that technology will remain a secret until the game's release. Bungie has apparently decided not to send out advance review copies to gaming journalist. However, what is known is that the nanotech virus has mutated the House of Devils into powerful machine-hybrids that threaten to upset the delicate balance among the many different factions in the solar system. Enter Lord Saladin, a familiar face to fans of the Iron Banner multiplayer event. Years ago, he and his fellow Iron Lords fought off the nanotech virus and sealed it in the Plague Lands, however, the resulting battle saw only Saladin survive. Now, with the virus threatening to break loose, Saladin is calling for a new order of Iron Lords to combat the threat.
In the video, check out how the House of Devils and the Cosmodrome have changed.
