Bungie has announced a new collaboration between Destiny 2 and Ghostbusters which will see various items inspired by the upcoming film, Frozen Empire, available for purchase within the game.
The new themed in-game items will be available starting on March 19, in anticipation of the theatrical release of Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire on March 22.
The Ghostbusters Firehouse accessory pack will include a Slimer Exotic Ghost shell, a Garraka-inspired Exotic Sparrow, and an Ecto-1-themed Exotic ship. Anyone who purchases a Ghostbusters-themed item from the Eververse in-game will also be eligible to download a physical Bungie Rewards Slimer Ghost shell papercraft mask, at no extra cost.
The Ghostbusters collaboration was just one announcement part of today's Destiny blog post, which was largely focused on the upcoming content update, Into the Light.
Destiny 2: Into the Light launches on April 9 with Update 7.3.6 and sets the stage for the game's next major expansion, The Final Shape. New content will be delivered throughout the months of April and May and while today's blog post didn't provide details, Bungie announced when we'll learn more.
Bungie plans to host three separate livestreams over the next couple of weeks, each focusing on a different part of the content update. The streams will feature developers as they reveal new details and provide a hands-on preview.
The first livestream will take place at 10 AM PT on March 19. The next two will air on March 26 and April 2, both starting at 10AM PT. Fans who tune in will have the chance to earn two unique emblems through Twitch Drops. THe "Those Held Dear" emblem will be given for watching at least 30 minutes across any of the three streams, while the Echo Diamond" emblem will be awarded for watching at least two hours total.
Destiny 2: The Final Shape was originally slated to launch in February 2024, but was delayed until June 4, 2024 to “allow for an even bigger and bolder vision.” The delay came amid reports of layoffs at BUngie following the lackluster reception to the Lightfall expansion. To keep players engaged with the game, Bungie announced Into the Light, free updates that will drive the narrative towards The Final Shape and “prepare players for their Guardian’s journey into the Traveler.”
