A Short And Sweet Doom Beta Review

Although i had logged in a whole day late for the Doom Open Beta weekend. I still played TONS of it, and got a huge thrill out of it.

I walked in only lightly remembering Doom games from my childhood, and always being scared of it. When i first stepped in, I had no idea what I was walking into. I took an instant liking to the Super Shotgun. The game play was very smooth, a lot more smooth then any other beta of a game I have played. The pacing of the game is very fast but also fun. It reminded me of Unreal Tournament 2004. The power up weapon which was the Gauss Cannon I got my hands on a few times, but oh baby was that thing a monster! The most used weapon hands down was the Super Shotgun. It had a very great range and hit radius plus damage. The other weapons I felt were bland in comparison.

My absolute favorite part of the game was the Glory Executions. Oh how great those were. The feeling of just punching someone straight out of the air, or kicking their feet out from beneath them just to finish them off into the ground. Amazing. The Glory Executions on the Demons are even more wicked. The beta also had many players on and seemed to be generally pretty fair all in all. By the end of the beta on sunday night, i had racked up almost 900 kills. You could say I got very hooked into it.
