Wolcen Studio has unveiled their latest project titled Project Pantheon A Dark Fantasy Extraction RPG Where Mythology Reigns. The curtain has been pulled back on this next ambitious title, through a new behind-the-scenes feature titled "What is Project Pantheon?" The video gives fans and press their first deep look into the upcoming game’s world, gameplay concepts, and artistic vision setting the stage for its official debut at Gamescom 2025.
According to Game Director Andrei Chirculete, Narrative Director Adam Dowden, and Art Director Elliot Bocxtaele, Project Pantheon is set in a nightmarish universe where every mythology is real, and players serve as agents of Death, tasked with cleaning up the chaotic remnants of this dark realm.
The game introduces an innovative genre hybrid, blending competitive extraction gameplay with top-down action RPG mechanics, aiming to create something wholly new in the crowded extraction games and fantasy RPG space.
In Project Pantheon all mythology is real which means that players navigate a world where Norse, Greek, Egyptian, and other mythologies co-exist and clash against each other. Setting a very unique and interesting setting for fantasy and mythology fans. The game also includes many different features:
Dead Gods as Landmarks: Massive corpses of fallen deities form explorable landmarks on maps, unlocking hidden lore and objectives.
Immersive World-Building: With sceneries ranging from Drakkars frozen in glacial tundras to ancient Greek temples, the game emphasizes atmosphere, mystery, and dread.
Unpredictable Matches: With each session being unique, players must extract successfully after braving monsters, mythic traps, and rival adventurers.
Visceral Art Style: The haunting, high-detail visuals offer a fresh approach to mythological horror-fantasy.
While most gameplay remains under wraps, the new video provides a brief glimpse of in-game footage, along with a tease of the symbol that will represent the game’s full visual identity.
Wolcen Studio has also confirmed that Project Pantheon will be shown behind closed doors at Gamescom 2025, taking place from August 20th through the 24th in Cologne, Germany. The team promises that fans can expect:
