In July of last year, DOOM 64 was rated by a couple of video game rating boards — leading fans to believe that the classic first-person shooter would be making a comeback. It wasn't until September, however, that the game was officially confirmed by Bethesda and id Software.
DOOM 64 was originally intended to release in November of 2019 alongside the brand-new DOOM Eternal, but the developers still needed a little bit more time to work on the latest entry, so they ended up pushing back both DOOM 64 and DOOM Eternal to March of 2020.
Much like the developers promised, both games were finally released in March of this year, and we have now some great news for those who still haven't picked the classic DOOM 64 up, as it will be getting a physical release for the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch.
This physical release of DOOM 64 will be published by Limited Run Games, and pre-orders are expected to open on Friday the 25th of September at 10:00 AM Eastern Time / 6:00 AM Pacific Time / 2:00 PM British Summer Time / 3: 00 PM Central European Summer Time.
Limited Run Games' Classic Edition of DOOM 64 is probably the one collectors will want to go after the most, as it will be including a commemorative Nintendo 64 cart(non-functioning), a Nintendo 64-style box, a double-sided 18" x 24" poster, a behind the scenes booklet, and a physical copy of the game; all of this for the price of $54.99 USD.
Fight through demonic hordes, hunt down the Mother of Demons, and stop Hell's invasion as you battle through more than 30 action-packed levels. Be on the lookout for classic weapons and secrets to help you put an end to the demonic threat.
DOOM 64 is currently available for the PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PC.
