By the end of July, bethesda surprised us all — during this year's QuakeCon — by revealing that the original
DOOM,
DOOM II, and
DOOM 3 would be re-releasing on home consoles and even mobile devices.
The surprised wouldn't end there, sadly, since users started noticing that
DOOM and
DOOM II forced players to create a Bethesda.net account in order to play the games. This was especially problematic for Nintendo Switch users, since they couldn't play the games without an internet connection; defeating the purpose of the console's portability.
Today, Bethesda has announced that they've released a patch for both
DOOM and
DOOM II, which has completely removed the requirement to have a Bethesda.net account while playing the games, as well as the disconnect notification while the gameplay session is still active.
Bethesda also revealed that they are currently working on a fix that will reduce the optional login's visibility, although they don't know when exactly this new patch will become available. Now, all they need to do is work on the music and give fans the proper
DOOM experience.
