DOOM Eternal was announced during Bethesda's E3 conference back in June. It's a follow-up to 2016's
DOOM which proved to be quite a success. Both
DOOM Eternal and its predecessor were developed by id Software and Bethesda Softworks.
Though
DOOM Eternal was set to release in a month's time, id Software recently announced that the highly anticipated game will now release in March of next year. In a statement, the studio explained that the delay has occured to ensure that they can make
DOOM Eternal the best it can be —
find out more on that here.
Similarly, the director of
DOOM Eternal recently participated in an interview with
GamesIndustry in which he discussed the upcoming first-person shooter. Marty Stratton told the site how id Software plan to improve upon
DOOM and that he believes
DOOM Eternal is simply going to be the best game that the studio has ever made.
When we finished DOOM 2016, we knew we surprised people and a lot of people just wanted more. We could have done more, but I think we’ve looked at DOOM Eternal and said, ‘How can we raise the bar in every aspect, from technology to design to world-building to the epic scope and scale to the multiplayer battle mode?’ We’re just pushing every piece of it further than I think we’ve ever pushed on a game.
"It’s ultimately turning out to be I think the best thing we’ve ever done," Stratton asserted. While we might have to wait five months longer than anticipated to get our hands on
DOOM Eternal, if this claim by the director is anything to go by, at least it will be worth the wait.
