While it was definitely disappointing to find out that
DOOM Eternal was not going to be releasing in November, as initially scheduled, fans did understand that Bethesda and id Software were working hrd to deliver a top quality product that could not only match, but also surpass the quality of the phenomenal
DOOM(2016).
DOOM Eternal is now officially launching on the
22nd of March, and the game seems like it won't get another surprise delay in this short two months before it releases. Just a few weeks ago, even, the game got an impressive second trailer that showed off everything the game has to offer; looking pretty much ready to be played, too.
Now that we're only a few months away from the game's highly anticipated release, we have some great news that will make fans of the demon-slaying series quite happy, as
DOOM Eternal has been officially confirmed to not feature any sort of microtransactions.
According to Creative Director Hugo Martin, who replied to a fan on Facebook, the game will not only not feature microtransactions, but it will also allow players to purchase cosmetics with in-game XP, and also reassuring fans that
DOOM Eternal is the complete
DOOM experience out of the box.
Martin's full reply about microtransactions is the following:
No store. Nothing you can unlock in Eternal with XP has anything to do with player abilities or content that would impact your game in any way. The only thing you can unlock with XP is COSMETICS. These cosmetics have no impact on how you play, they just look cool. Eternal is a $60 game, not a free to play game or mobile game – we are giving you a complete experience with no store just like you'd expect. Unlocking skins with XP is a part of the experience if you care about that stuff or you can completely ignore it and it will have no impact on your experience AT ALL and it’s all free.
Again, this is great news for fans of the series, especially in this day and age in which companies don't seem to care much about the consumer but more about the size of their wallets. Now, all fans need to do is patiently wait until
DOOM Eternal finally becomes available, and slay some demons to their heart's content.
DOOM Eternal puts you in control of the DOOM Slayer as you blow apart new and classic demons with powerful weapons in unbelievable and never-before-seen worlds. Experience the ultimate combination of speed and power as you rip and tear your way across dimensions with the next leap in push-forward, first-person combat.
DOOM Eternal will be available for the PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PC on the 22nd of March.
