Star Wars Day (May 4th) is just around the corner, and in anticipation of the celebration, Epic Games has announced a massive crossover event in Fortnite.
Kicking off a day early on May 3rd with update v29.40, the Fortnite x Star Wars crossover will see the galactic adventure come to different areas of the Fortnite universe, including LEGO Fortnite, Battle Royale, Fortnite Festival, and Rocket Racing.
In the traditional Battle Royale mode, Chewbacca will join the fight. Players will need to search for a specific Imperial Roadblock on the map (it changes with each match) to rescue the Wookie who has been captured by the Empire. If you find and free him first, he will join your squad with his trusty Bowcaster.
He'll also give you your own Wookie Bowcaster for rescuing him, or you can get lucky and find one inside Imperial Chests at Imperial Roadblocks. The Bowcaster allows you to shoot individual quarrels quickly or charge it up for a heavier, explosive shot.
Darth Vader is also making his way to the map, accompanied by a squad of Stormtroopers. Each match, Lord Vader and his squad will arrive via the Lambda Shuttle and will land in one of three set landing zones. If you defeat him, you can pick up his lightsaber. You'll be able to swing Darth Vader's Lightsaber as a standard melee weapon or throw it at your ranged opponents. It can also be used to deflect shots. Also available via Imperial Chests at Vader's landing sits are E-11 Blasters, the signature weapon of the Stormtroopers.
There will be special Star Wars Quests in Battle Royale that reward you with a Battle Pass Level up for when you complete five of them. Completing ten will get you the AWR Pack Back Bling. The Star Wars Quests will be released in two phases: May 3rd at 9:00 a.m. ET and May 7th at 9:00 a.m. ET.
LEGO Fortnite is also receiving a massive amount of Star Wars content for the crossover. Players will be tasked with helping the Rebels survive by building up the Rebel Village. Players will be able to find special tools like Lightsabers, DL-44 Blasters, and Thermal Detonators to help fend off the invading Galactic Empire.
A special LEGO Pass: Rebel Adventure will be available with a mix of free and premium rewards inspired by Tatooine. By assisting the Rebels, you can unlock in-game items like the "Tatooine Turret and Tanks Bundle," the "Mos Eisley Blue Milk Bar Bundle," and more. Even the free reward track is worth completing as you can unlock the Mos Eisley Marketplace Build as the final reward.
If you want all of the Star Wars cosmetics, the Premium Reward Track will cost 1,400 V-Bucks. When buying it, you'll instantly unlock the Chewbacca Outfit.
In Fortnite Festival, the in-game music-playing mode, there will be a new area inspired by Mos Eisley's famous cantina. By completing seven of Fortnite Festiva's Star Wars Quests, which go live on May 3rd, you can unlock the Seven-string Hallikset Guitar, a Naboo classic.
And lastly, in Rocket Racing, you can unlock the podracing-inspired Energy Binders Trail by completing 14 Star Wars Quests in the mode. There will also be May the Fourth Quests available; if you complete four you will unlock Anakin's Podracer Decal, and if you complete eight you will unlock the Darth Maul Decal.
Additional Star Wars-inspired cosmetics will be available to purchase individually via the in-game shop. The Dagobah Luke, Lando Calrissian, and AWR Trooper Outfits will be available in the Shop starting May 3rd. Buying them will unlock the Outfit in Battle Royale as well as LEGO style for LEGO Fortnite. Previously released Star Wars Series Outfits will also be returning throughout the event, including Boba Fett, Han Solo, Leia Organa, Finn, Kylo Ren, Rey, and more.
