Fortnite Season 9 has been unleashed and with it comes a brand new Battle Pass, a tiered reward system that unlocks new cosmetics as you complete in-game challenges.
As per usual, the Season 9 Battle Pass is made up for 100 tiers (100 rewards) worth of cosmetic rewards. This includes Outfits (character skins), emotes, harvesting tool and glider skins, pets, weapon wraps, and even V-bucks which, in turn, can be used to purchase the next season's Battle Pass.
Upon purchasing the Season 9 Battle Pass for 950 V-bucks, you'll receive immediate access to two of this season's outfits: Sentinel and Rox (a progressive outfit with dual axes). Alternatively, you can purchase the Battle Bundle for 2,800 V-Bucks and get a head start on Season 9 by instantly unlocking the first 25 tiers, including a third outfit inspired by the cinematic trailer. Once you hit tier 100, you'll unlock Vendetta, a second progressive skin.
New to the Season 9 Battle Pass are Fortbytes. These are collectible computer chips hidden throughout the map that you can find to decrypt a mysterious message. Collecting Fortbytes will unlock rewards and uncover secrets of Season 9. There are a total of 100 Fortbytes to be found; however, they will be slowly introduced into the game as the season progresses. On day one, there are 18 Fortbytes available to find, with at least one new Fortbyte added each day.
The Battle Pass rewards and Fortbytes are exclusive to Season 9, so you have 10 weeks to collect everything. Epic Games estimates it will take between 75 and 150 hours of play to reach Battle Pass tier 100. Purchasing the Battle Pass later int he season will unlock rewards up to your current level, retroactively.
If you don't want to purchase the Season 9 Battle Pass, there is a free Silver tier that also comes with some rewards, but not nearly as many.
