One of the games that faplayersns had been constantly asking to be ported to the Nintendo Switch is Blizzard's critically acclaimed
Overwatch — with many fans claiming that Nintendo's handheld hybrid console would be a perfect fit.
During a Nintendo Direct presentation that was streamed earlier in September, Blizzard officially announced that
Overwatch: Legendary Edition would be releasing for the Nintendo Switch mid-October; something that made Nintendo Switch owners and fans of
Overwatch ecstatic.
While we're still a couple of weeks away from the release of
Overwatch: Legendary Edition on the Nintendo Switch,
Overwatch Lead Director Jeff Kaplan has revealed that over at Blizzard they have been wanting to port the game to the Nintendo Switch since the console was first revealed.
"
Literally the day the Switch came out, we were thinking about it. I remember immediately talking to people around the office saying, ‘What would it take for us to be here?'," revealed Kaplan during a recent interview with The Verge.
Kaplan then reveals that, even when they wanted to port Overwatch since day one, Blizzard had to make sure that it was a proper port that would run well on Nintendo's hardware; mentioning that "
it was much easier to get Diablo on the device than it was Overwatch."
"
And, like everything we do here, we wanted to make sure to do it right. It was just a long process of figuring out how to handle the development in a way that we felt like we would be very proud of the end product," also added Kaplan.
