New Overwatch Character May Show Up In The Future
Recently Jeff Kaplan, game director of Overwatch, was in a youtube video that doubled down as a year in review video as well is a view into how the creative team comes us with new characters for the game. Apparently, a lot of them don't make it to the final product. Click the jump to find out more.
Many things discussed in the video gave us an idea of things we can expect to show up in the game in the coming year. For instance, Oasis is a new map that is currently being tested and will soon be released in the game. Also the customization ability is going to be further pushed as the game develops, and will allow players can add and choose multiple customs at a time.
A big choice that is coming to Overwatch will be the ability to search for servers that have custom games, something that Team Fortress 2 is able to let players do. This feature is something that lets players search for specific servers that have been customized by others. This is a huge feature that would make it easier for Overwatch fans to play whatever game type and whatever map whenever they want.
The possibly the biggest and juiciest thing to come out of the video is the quote that Kaplan said regarding the process he and the creative team behind Overwatch go through when they're creating new characters.
"We tend to work on more content than we release because we prototype stuff and sometimes it fails or we don’t like it or we wanna go back to the drawing board."
Kaplan also mentioned that there are multiple characters for Overwatch that are in the works, but only one of them is in the most developed stage. Heres to hoping that Blizzard will release the unknown character sometime in 2017.
