Overwatch 2’s biggest season ever is live. Season 16 has launched today and it's bringing a tidal wave of content, including an all-new game mode, a brand-new hero, the long-awaited Hero Ban system, and the debut of magical new skins in the Dokiwatch collection. There is more than enough content for players of all kinds to enjoy in this latest patch.
Stadium Mode Launches
Stadium becomes the third core pillar of Overwatch 2, standing alongside Quick Play and Competitive. It’s a fast-paced, best-of-seven, round-based mode where players earn Stadium Cash each round to customize and upgrade their heroes via the Armory.
With 17 heroes available at launch and more to come, plus the ability to swap between first- and third-person views, Stadium is built for experimentation, strategy, and nonstop evolution. A standalone ranking system adds even more depth.
The Stadium: Initiation Event is also live, letting players earn exclusive skins like Stadium Rookie Soldier: 76 and Stadium All-Star Juno. Reaching Elite rank unlocks prestigious skins for Genji, Orisa, and Moira.
New Hero Freja Joins the Roster
Precision-focused and deadly from any angle, Freja enters Overwatch 2 as the newest DPS hero. Her Revdraw Crossbow mixes rapid shots with explosive bursts, while mobility tools like Quick Dash and Updraft make her slippery and versatile.
Her Bola Shot Ultimate tangles multiple enemies in a brutal trap, giving her team the edge in chaotic fights. Freja is live starting today.
Hero Bans Shake Up Competitive Play
Season 16 introduces Hero Bans, letting each team vote to ban two heroes (maximum two per role) before a match begins in Competitive. This system enhances strategic counterplay and limits stale metas.
Bans change match-to-match, encouraging adaptation and team coordination. This new feature is aimed at keeping Competitive fresh and dynamic, giving players a way to influence the match before it begins.
Mythic Heart of Hope Juno & Dokiwatch Skins
The magical girl aesthetic takes center stage with Mythic Heart of Hope Juno, part of the new Dokiwatch skin line blending Magitech and fantasy themes. Her skin evolves across four stages:
-
Base – Pink colorway with sparkly effects
-
Doki Princess – Regal, glowing yellow with a bob cut
-
Corrupted Evil – Red and black twin-tail variant
-
Radiant Protector – Radiant glow with ambient effects
The Iridescent Aspect adds a prismatic shimmer starting today. The Dokiwatch Bundle includes magical-themed skins for Kiriko, D.Va, Widowmaker, Mei, Orisa, and more. The bundle is available until May 19th.
