Overwatch 2 was officially announced, with a cinematic and gameplay trailer, in 2019. It has been over two years since then and yet we seen no closer to the online multiplayer shooter's release.
Blizzard Entertainment has revealed that characters will boast new looks and abilities, however, they may not be improved per se. A new rumour floating around within the Overwatch community supposes that the long-awaited sequel may actually not be as visually upgraded as Blizzard Entertainment would have you believe. Rather, it may inferior to the first game in that regard.
Back in November, we reported that a newly filed job listing indicated that Blizzard Entertainment was working on a new mobile game related to Overwatch. Now it seems that mobile game and Overwatch 2 may actually be one in the same.
You see, Overwatch fans have noticed that certain in-game designs, be they character or environmental, appear to be greatly simplified in comparison to how they appeared in the first game. For instance, Torbjörn's blaster and hammer (as you can see below). Fans speculate this may be in effort to make Overwatch 2 compatible with mobile devices.
Blizzard Entertainment are yet to address the speculation. Should they, we will be sure to let you know.
