First teased all the way back in 2018 in the Mcree-centric "Reunion" animated short, Echo is the newest playable hero added to Overwatch. As far as the story goes; Dr. Mina Liao was killed in an attack on the Overwatch facility but not before creating an advanced android capable of mimicry. Liao lives on through her creation, Echo.
Echo is the 32nd playable hero added to Overwatch and the last until Overwatch 2 comes out. She's a damage hero who offers a plethora of new and unique abilities — the most exciting of which is called "Duplicate." Echo's primary fire is called Tri-Shot and involves her shooting out three bolts of energy at once in a triangle formation.
Echo's secondary fire is called Sticky Bombs; she can fire a volley of explosive shots that blow after a short time. The new character's Flight ability essentially allows her to eject out of a situation and fly freely like no other character. Then there's her Focusing Beam. This ability allows Echo to deal extreme amounts of damage to targets whose health is below half.
Her passive ability allows her to glide when falling like Mercy. Finally, there's her Ultimate. In keeping with her talent in mimicry; Duplicate allows Echo to become an enemy hero for a short amount of time. While Echo is embodying another hero, her Ultimate charges exponentially fast. This means she can unleash multiple Ultimate abilities within a matter of seconds.
Echo is now playable on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC. The official video below (via PlayOverwatch) shows off what she can do.
