According to EA Global Publishing Chief Laura Miele, the company has massive plans for Star Wars Battlefront moving forward, something which probably shouldn't come as a surprise when you take into account the fact over 14 million copies of the game have been sold since it went on sale last year. That's pretty incredible when you take into account that there's nothing to do if you don't play online!
"[Battlefront] is one of the best-selling Star Wars games in the history of all Star Wars games and that’s our first one," she said of the franchise's future. "We’re just getting started. So we feel like we have a great road ahead of us in this franchise. The thing that has been so fulfilling and rewarding to us is that not only do we feel an obligation to this franchise and brand because we love it so much and we’re such fans ourselves, but it was actually incredibly rewarding for our employees and our staff. They wanted to work on it. It actually helped us draw great talent into the company."
The final add on for Star Wars Battlefront - revolving around the Death Star - is expected to be released in November to mark the game's one year anniversary, but after that, it sounds like we'll have to wait first for those VR exclusive missions and then the sequel (which is expected to be released in 2017). Based on everything we've heard about that and the quotes above, it will be worth the wait!
