Star Wars Battlefront Initial Review and Thoughts

After playing Star Wars Battlefront for a few hours, I'll dive into what I like, which is A LOT, and what I dislike.

Star Wars Battlefront 3

Star Wars Battlefront has delivered in a big way so far for me. DICE did a really good job at re-creating key battles between the rebels and the empire. Any weapon that you see in the movies is in the game. The graphics are absolutely stunning, detailed and are very fluid. Here are my initial thoughts on the game.

I LOVE the Heroes vs Villains multiplayer mode. Each side gets three heroes. The light side has Luke Skywalker, Princess err... General Leia and Han Solo. The Dark Side counters with Darth Sidious, Darth Vader and Boba Fett. The goal is to take out the other teams heroes and keep your heroes alive. Whether you are the hero or a measly rebel or stormtrooper there is definite strategy to the game. It's terrifying when you only have a blaster and Vader is coming straight towards you. Watch out for Boba Fett he can get into places other heroes can't and allow his team to take out your heroes or end the match in a draw.

The heroes are VERY fun to play with and require you to be patient. You cannot roam the battlefield and take out countless numbers of people. When grouped up however with support they're unbeatable. The abilities take a little bit to get used to, but when mastered you can wreak havok in the battlefield. Vader and Luke both can use lightsabers to block attacks and send the blaster fire right back at them resulting in their death.

The companion app is another great tool that can be utilized to earn credits towards the vast amounts of things that can be purchased for your character. You can also switch out your loadout and do many other things. The little game you can play is also kind of fun. You can also check out your career stats and see how good or bad (me) you've been playing.

For the "range" that the bigger turret weapons are supposed to have its hard to see enemies in the distance. Your scope lights up yellow for a split second before they're gone. They're also very easy to destroy using enemy vehicles.

I'm so glad there are private modes that enables you to get a group of people and play. Everyone at Gamefragger is excited to play these modes and see who the force is really with.

I really am not a fan of the main screen. When you want to leave a mode and switch to another you have to go back to the main screen. Sounds simple? Yes, but there is a loading screen which is kind of annoying. The lettering is also small so its hard to tell at times if people are infact in your game. I'm used to Destiny where you also cannot join games unless your party is ready. I've already had a few games where somehow my group got separated into different games requiring us to go back to the main screen. If they'd enlarge the letters it would be better.
