Last week, we reported on Bespin Bulletin's claim that the Star Wars game that EA Motive has been working on will finally be revealed soon — as you can see here. Well, wouldn't you look at this new leak?
Courtesy of the Microsoft Store, we now know the name of EA Motive's Star Wars game as well as have a general idea of what exactly it is. In their aforementioned report, Bespin Bulletin mentioned that they believed the EA Motive Star Wars game would be a "combat flight simulator" of some sort. Well, it seems they were right.
Star Wars: Squadrons is the name of the game. The listing, which has since been taken down as it attracted quite a bit of attention, also featured some key art. It depicts a Rebel pilot and an Imperial TIE Fighter pilot stood back to back. What's more, the image features a plethora of iconic starfighters from throughout the science-fantasy saga.
We can spot an X-Wing, A-Wing, Y-Wing, U-Wing, a Mon Calamari cruiser, a TIE Fighter, TIE Interceptor, TIE Bomber, and TIE Reaper. You can check out the artwork for yourself below. Additionally, the listing featured the tagline "Pilots wanted," as well as a pre-order button that didn't work even when the listing was up.
According to VentureBeat's Jeff Grubb, Star Wars: Squadrons "has a single-player campaign that is a few hours long. But the focus is on multiplayer space combat." We can assume that Star Wars: Squadrons will be officially revealed on June 18th during EA Play or even a day or two beforehand. Regardless, we will be sure to cover the reveal — so stay tuned!
